Tate’s first week back home had lots of recovery (sleeping) hours punctuated by some big fun hours. Prom closet was this week. Held by the hospital for the medical kids that are invited to hospital prom; it’s a night to enter the “hospital boutique” and choose the perfect dress for prom coming up in May. As Tate doesn’t have an opportunity for any of the traditional HS dances, hospital Prom is a huge highlight of Tate’s year. She found the perfect dress and is SO excited.

All of the kids invited to hospital prom are either on the other side of a life threatening illness (such as cancer,) and/or are still fighting. Some challenges are visible, some are not. But what is so amazing about prom closet is the camaraderie and support these kids and families offer each other. It’s a safe place for kids whose bodies have extra scars, wear medical paraphernalia and need medical equipment to just get around. Those whose look has been changed due to medications and whose hearts are fragile to not feeling like the average teen. It’s far more than a dance. But a place ti feel like you fit when the rest of the world often feels different. We are grateful!

The girls and I attended a Christian concert at Red Rocks this week too. Keira’s first concert there, our tickets were sponsored by Hope Kids. We love Mercy Me and had an amazing night. They even filmed for their upcoming movie…I can only Imagine 2. The 6 takes with thousands of people was an experience! Sitting in the night air with thousands singing praise music is always a good night and one I’m so grateful to have shared with my girls. Tate’s PT’s and OT would’ve been cheering her on too as she did amazing!

The rest of the week Tate has slept…a lot. Labs show inflammation is back up again after coming down with the high dose steroids. Tate’s rashy cheeks, fatigue and pain supports the labs. We reconnected with providers via telehealth this week and are getting the new specialists (hemophilia/thrombosis clinic) scheduled. We chased down prescriptions, increased iv fluids and are almost back to a routine that is the new normal.

Thank you to so many that were able to sign the document in support of TPN access. You are making a difference !
