It’s Monday night and we’ve been home since Friday. We were able to extend our stay two nights due to a couple appointment scheduling changes. Tate is doing really well being home. She’s navigating the stairs and getting around better every day!
The homecoming was so fun. Tim had a camera set up with music playing and he and Keira popped confetti canons over Tate. It was super emotional for me to just have her be able to walk into the house. Unfortunately, it didn’t record. We did it again and K threw confetti on Tate. I cried the second time too so that emotion caught on camera was the same. Regardless, It was a special moment.
By the time we reached Tate’s last admission this past December, Tate wanted nothing to do with her bedroom. She had spent countless days over the years confined to her bed that all she associated her room with was being sick. She expressed wanting a change. Keira surprised her by completely redecorating Tates room for her while Tate was gone. K put so much thought into it and it’s just perfect. Tatum loves it!
The last few days, the girls baked and decorated a cake, we had hotdogs and s’mores over a fire, watched movies and soaked up the dogs. I was able to knock out a couple items of my house catch up to do list, and overall enjoyed being home with Keira and Tim. I think Tate is pretty wiped, but in great spirits from being home. Tate is still battling back pain and the last couple days fighting with swollen, painful knees. But the strides she is making are huge . We are grateful everyday to see her continuing to head in a positive direction.
Tomorrow after a telehealth appointment here, we head back to the hospital and then Brent’s Place for the weeks appointments. We are hoping to be back home permanently (just commuting for appointments) after the 4th and are planning on coming back over the weekend to spend time with Miami cousins and Tims brother Marc, and wife Jet. We are so looking forward to it!
