Day 121
Post BMT +59
Miserable night. Miserable day. Sleep consisted of 9:30–12 last night, with another catnap close to sunrise. Tate woke vomiting at midnight and it continued all. Day. Long. I’m sure she hit a dozen episodes by noon and finally fell asleep for an hour in the afternoon and we both took a nap from 6:30-7:30. Those little reprieves were pretty much drug induced and allowed us to get the important daily meds through her g tube. She’d wake sick, but for the most part there was enough time for decent absorption. This G tube continues to serve Tate well!
They took Tate to radiology for GI x-rays. Those did show inflammation in her gut, which could mean graft vs. host is developing, but she had a scope and biopsies done not too long ago that showed no gvh so for now they’re thinking it’s gastroenteritis, ( a stomach bug or infection.)She’s been on antibiotics since Friday morning so she’s covered for an infection. I hope they’re correct and this will quickly run its course for a better day tomorrow. She’s back on lots of IV meds, so she’ll have to get off those tomorrow for us to discharge Monday. Tomorrow is supposed to be our 24 hour “independence day.” Basically you mimic being out of the hospital as practice managing all the meds. We’re no strangers to a complex med routine, so that part isn’t a concern. I just can’t take IV with us. In this world, things can rapidly go in either direction, but obviously praying for quick resolution. The constant nausea and uncontrolled vomiting is honestly worse than the terrible pain. Tate begs anyone who comes in to “please help me.” ❤️🩹
