Praying for a restful night

My favorite stage Missing the front two teeth.

Today was eventful and lots of changes were made with Tates pain management. She slept more restfully last night than I’ve seen in months, but woke very sedated and “loopy” with lots of goofy talk and behavior.

So..as the epidural wasn’t in fact numbing the correct area or very effectively, it was discontinued. The ketamine had run its course and was stopped and later today the morphine was turned down. Tate is surprisingly holding her own with pain despite the changes. Migraine has been the biggest issue today and tonight. Fever has stayed away this afternoon so we are fully expecting clean cultures.
The goal moving forward is to try to reduce the opioid load a bit more as they believe some of the increasing body pain could be contributed to hyper analgesia. Basically, too many narcotics can have the opposite effect. The teams are astounded at Tates tolerance level but also perplexed at how she metabolizes. Most large adults couldn’t survive the level of narcotics Tate is on-scary thought. Everyone would like to see her on less. Once we can reduce enough to keep her more alert and functional with somewhat manageable pain, they’ll work with hospice for a better plan at home. We’re hoping for Monday or Tuesday. Praying for a restful night with no pain rescues.
