Day 7:
Today brought yet another episode of unusual symptoms and Tate fevers. It took a little longer to get her out of it than yesterday. Afterwards and with lots of neuro blips, Tate was having some hallucinations. Her Infectious Disease Dr. happened to be in then so I was grateful for her observation and that she could report to the team. IV Antibiotics were extended from ending Sunday to instead continuing through next Wednesday as a precaution due to Tate just looking/feeling lousy.
Because of the hallucinations, there were med changes. We are hoping the new meds will still control the episodes that Tate is now not so fondly calling “Gerald.”
We checked a medication level today to see if Tate is fully absorbing her meds. We checked an immunosuppressant level and it was basically zero. The initial response was one of big concern wondering if she is absorbing any of her meds. Still investigating….but it’s possible the antibiotics have changed Tate’s gut flora so that she isn’t absorbing only certain meds. More tests needed.
Today felt long and emotional. We appreciate all the thought from Tate’s team so much. We just wish there was a more obvious answer and direct treatment.
