Day 7
Tate slept much of today and tonight revealed why. She is running a fever and the skin on her arm above her blood clot is red. She had fiery looking cheeks all afternoon and evening as well. We will start over with new blood cultures and labs tonight. Sigh
She is starting a new pain med tonight. It’s poor timing with the fever as this med can eat up steroid. She doesn’t produce any and a fever also eats up more steroid. She was supposed to stop stress dosing tonight. It takes some effort to get everybody who doesn’t know Tate to explain what she needs and even how to interpret her labs specific to Tate.
Tate had a surprise visit from sweet Huckins and Shalice today and a really fun art therapy session with Erin. She brings the sunshine and always so many giggles too. It was a nice ending to another challenging day before all the central line fever protocol took over.
