Day 44
Tatum has been so sleepy the last couple days. We think it’s due to removing one of her fentanyl patches. She has a history of this when coming down off pain meds. We turned up the ketamine again today by .01 with no reaction but also no results. We have another day but acute pain team isn’t expecting much. This is defeating in that it didn’t provide relief for Tate but also doesn’t support the idea that this is partly hyper algesia but rather a new normal.
Tate had a strange reaction to an everyday LR bolus. Vas team put in a new peripheral IV and problem was solved.
Ultrasound yesterday revealed “sluggish “ blood flow where that central line is on her L side. It does seem to be contributing to the purple arm. We’re waiting on surgery to see if they have a plan. A new line is not ideal as we’re running out of places with the clot on the right side.
Today Tate finished her continuous antibiotics with her 54th bag (maybe more) of IV antibiotics . I never dreamed we’d be here for the entire 6 week course.
Fun Fact: Tate and her nurses named her blood clots. R side is “Clautia” and L side is “Clottingham and his twin “Claute” And her new central line is “Sylvester.” Clautia is on a diet as shes shrinking. You make it fun where you can.
