No more middle of the night baths.

Day 59

Transplant Day -4

I was hoping to share a picture of Tate tonight with her eyes open. But, today she was either sleeping, sick while awake or sick while sleeping. The nausea/vomiting has continued to be a challenge today. Tate did spike a fever tonight and continues to run one which means automatic blood cultures. Her ANC hasn’t completely tanked yet, so they may be able to hold off on antibiotics pending cultures. Also, fever is not unexpected with the ATG she received today. The fact that she made it through the whole 6 hour infusion without any major side effects is a huge win! Her Dr’s believe her reaction to the ATG killing off her T-cells was lessened because she’s been on many T cell destroying immune suppressants for so long now. There just weren’t as many ti get rid of. She’ll have two more days of both ATG and fludarabine.

Tate isn’t able to tolerate anything by mouth even meds. Again, thank goodness for the g-tube! The last time she ate or drank anything or tolerated a formula feed is going on five days ago so they are putting her on TPN & lipids. This is IV nutrition. She’ll likely be on it for a bit until she’s able to take in enough either orally or as formula and water in her g tube.

Really great news is we’re through the thiotepa baths! No more middle of the night baths….especially miserable with vomiting and now a fever. Looking forward to hopefully a few hours strung together tonight for sleep!!
