We are home tonight! Tates surgery was pushed up to 2:00 today. As it was turning out though , anesthesia wouldn’t have taken Tate as her BP was 70’s/40’s. The nursing team has much more leeway inpatient with tpa (injected into central lines to break up clots)and kept working on that line. There was a pop and we got the final blood clot out to get her line functioning again. Tate was pretty sleepy though with the low BP and they suggested keeping her for observation. I suggested more IV fluids and we got her pressure up enough to go home and got her awake around 3PM. No surgery. Home by 6:30PM. Shortest stay in history. Ready to sleep all night tonight in our own beds. Feels like weve been gone for days.
They got to witness the BP issues I deal with daily and Tate got to avoid surgery while the team still witnessed the ongoing struggles with this line. And…all in 24 hours. A win all around. And, we got to hug some familiar faces.
Crazy fact…this is 5 years in a row of hospital admissions on this date. It’d be crazier if they were a once yearly admission, but shows just how many she’s had. Someday I’ll figure it out. But not really a stat I like to keep track of. Thanks for all the prayers! Even better than a safe surgery is a cancelled one!
