Day 46
Just a sweet little memory of my 4.
Last night Tate’s every 3 hour dilaudid was increased by 50%. That made for a more comfortable night and day today, although pain is still being very stubborn.
About the time Tate started to feel worse several days ago, her biologic was switched from an IV med to a subQ injection. This is a med that if doses are missed, can throw you into a rheum flare. Tate has a very bruised stomach from her high doses of twice daily blood thinner injections. This new biologic injection doesn’t play nicely with Lovenox or bruises. We are speculating that she’s not absorbing the switch from IV to an injection. So today we switched back to IV with hope that this is the answer to the increased pain and malaise.
Despite the setbacks with pain and increasing meds, we filled today with a whole lot of giggles and silly distractions with nurse Rachel. We taught Tate a line dance as each day we try to get her up and moving. Nurse Emma popped in from North campus to say hello too plus our night friends at change of shift. We found lots of “tinsel” today and are grateful for all the friends that bring smiles and hugs each day.
As we head into a new medical week once again with new residents and a new hospitalist attending, we’re trying hard to stay positive that this is the week we’ll get back home.
