First…prom recap. Tate slept as late as she could on Friday so she could power through. And power through she did. Tate’s best medicine is social and dogs. It was fun to see my little social butterfly introducing all her friends from various CHC departments. This girl has spent extended time on so many units and Friday brought that all together. It truly was the best prom yet. The hard work and dedication and genuine care from childlife working together is amazing. Our hearts are full of gratitude. Keira tagged along and fills in all the gaps for not only Tate but some of Tate’s friends too. She’s kind of like childlife undercover.
Since Prom, Tate has slept endless hours. She was only awake for 4 hrs yesterday. What initially felt like “just” recovery is now cause for concern. She continues to be more swollen. Nausea, crazy fatigue, migraines and poor color have me praying desperately for her to kick out whatever seems to be brewing. The thought of another admission (despite the amazing people at CHC) turns my stomach. I just can’t.
We said see you later to our Keira today. She headed off to Round Up River Ranch to work as a cabin leader for the summer. She was super excited ! And us for her too…just sad to see her drive away. I know this will be her best summer yet.
Currently the goal is to get Tate to her new rheum infusion on Wednesday. And of course, the #1…to just stay home.
