Tate received a really special gift in the mail this last week. A sweet friend she has yet to even meet in person painted a watercolor of Tate’s precious Bella dog. Thank you Brooke! Your talent and generosity brought huge smiles (and tears.)

Grandma B flew in Monday for some memory making. Tate unfortunately hasn’t been up for much. Yesterday was especially concerning. Despite stress dose steroids and fluids, we couldn’t get Tate awake for more than seconds at a time. Low blood pressure seems to be the driver. Getting it up and stay up is becoming more of a challenge as my usual go-to’s aren’t working as quickly or as well . By 1:30 in the afternoon, Tates PT had come and BP had dropped again and Tate was as sleepy as ever. It took a bigger round of steroids and more IV fluids to get her up and awake.

She continues to be swollen and puffy and have bouts of bad nausea with worse headaches and migraines. With extra steroids and fluids, she was up for a few hours yesterday. During that time, you wouldn’t know how she was struggling for most of the day to keep her eyes open. She fatigues quickly though and was up again during the night with nausea. She fell asleep yesterday morning on repeat trying to get her through her morning meds and even fell asleep with a needle in her abdomen while giving herself a Lovenox shot.

It definitely seems to be adrenal related as enough steroids bring her out of it. But, to figure out what is stressing her body has been tricky and the low BP combination keeps me a bit on edge. Tate’s adrenal insufficiency is the most difficult area of her health to manage and the most imminently threatening to her. This is the one that scares me.
