We got a room on our familiar 8th floor this afternoon. Much more quickly than they had prepared me for. Tate’s fever broke in the ER but has been high again all afternoon into tonight. She actually looks and feels worse tonight than she did this morning, despite the IV antibiotics. Those will continue. We haven’t heard that cultures have grown yet. I’m expecting they will by morning. It’s strange for Tate to be running a high fever. But she feels absolutely terrible.

Lily and Cole from childlife popped in right away and brought Christmas with them at the end of their shift. These two do “secret” childlife work through friendship with tate. Tate had gifts all ready for them after her would have been clinic days today. Im so happy for the decor but I’m actually hesitant to fully decorate as I don’t want to get too cozy if we can go home. So grateful to have people excited to see you even when we’d rather be home. A strange mix of gratitude and sadness too. Just a hard time of year for an unplanned admission.
