Day 17
Tate’s door revolved constantly once again today. We saw hematology, infectious disease, surgery, pain, palliative and gen med several times. Time in the hospital is anything but quiet, especially with all the teams involved with Tate.
There wasn’t a lot of new info regarding the clots. Just that hematology feels they are doing all they safely can and there is likely a rheum/inflammatory reason for her body to do what it does. We head backto rheum on Wednesday.
This afternoon, Tate chose to shut off the PCA and is now managing with oral narcotics in addition to her implanted pain pump. That pump was 3 years old yesterday! It’s given Tate some key functions back and in other ways, we’re disappointed that it’s not capturing more of her chronic pain.
Tomorrow we are planning on discharge. Tate will go home on IV antibiotics once again. She’ll be followed more closely by ID with more regular labs. And we are just praying that this infection completely clears and she can be a bit healthier for a while.
Drew and Tim were here again today. Drew played minecraft with Tate. I haven’t heard her hearty laugh like I heard today in a while. Siblings are a gift. Tate’s are so good to her.
