Day 5
Today as a Saturday had some fun moments for Tate. Drew came and got Tate out to the teen zone. Tate isn’t able to get her drivers license and learned a while ago that they have a manual and automatic driving simulator. She’s been waiting for Drew to come teach her and today was the day. It’s pretty authentic and even gave her a headache and wore her out. Sounds pretty real! She loved it.
Tate worked on clay with her art therapist, Erin. She is newer to the CHC team and is a beautiful edition. One of my most favorite but also painful things is to hear Tate talk through some of her medical journey with someone else. I gain so much insight into her feelings on where she sits, feel so much pride for her strength and resilience but also sadness when I learn about something impactful that I didn’t realize was painful for her. I’m grateful for these opportunities for Tate to heal in alternative ways.
Tate and I love watching the Olympics and today was a great day for a bit of that too. Go !!
I didn’t get my way on turning down the monitor more last night, which is okay. Last night Tate alarmed apneic over and over, so it wouldn’t have helped much anyway. She was sleeping early tonight after a long late afternoon nap. All the activity wore her out.
Medically, we’re in a bit of a holding pattern while we wean steroids and get to a care conference Monday. Tates cbc on the new antibiotics looked good today which gives us confidence that they’re doing what they’re meant to.
