Day 6. Only day 6….Really!?!!

Tate was only awake a total of 6 hours today. Woke up and went to bed feeling crummy. Tomorrow is a care conference to discuss outpatient parameters to keep Tate safe. Vague, yes. But in true honesty, nobody seems to have any good ideas just yet. BP has been high coming off the steroids. This actually can happen in adrenal insufficiency due to physiologic stress when steroids aren’t tapered slowly enough. Only her body knows what’s around the corner next.

A photo I took today of Tate is almost identical to one from last year.

On this day…..

1 Year ago: Day 16 of an almost 3 month admission where Tate turned 18 and had her 3rd BMT B-Day. The start of all the blood clot business.

2 Years ago: Nearing the end of a 3 week admission for Tate’s intrathecal pain pump placement. A tough surgery for her to get through.

3 Years ago: On a tropical island sipping pina coladas…j/k. Just not inpatient on this day.

4 Years ago: A few weeks shy of Tate’s bone marrow transplant. We’d already been in the hospital 6+ weeks and had 3.5 months more to go inpatient, followed by almost 3 months at Brent’sPlace.

Each one of those were challenging for their own reasons. But we felt hopeful. Praying tomorrow instills a little hope again.

Check out Tate’s shirt for a little giggle. Highly inappropriate outside of the hospital, but saved for and greatly appreciated within these walls.
