Day 21
Today was rough on Tate. The dilaudid was initially decreased but the pain receptors that utilize it are still blocked and haven’t opened up yet meaning pain was much worse. Tate had a pain crisis and we ended up going back up on dilaudid a bit. Tomorrow we’ll decrease the pain patch in her cheek a bit more which will hopefully help level things out and allow her body to use more of the dilaudid. But it’s a tricky balance. Pharmacy is very concerned that the receptors could suddenly open up and her body will get too much dilaudid putting her into respiratory depression.
Tatum’s legs are currently so painful even to touch that ice isn’t helping, which is her usual go-to. We’ve used lidocaine patches a million times. Tonight we’ll try them once again for her knees.
Tonight Tate’s body was trying to run a fever again. I’m starting to think it’s related to the new infusion she gets everyday around 3:00.
I took my second nap ever today while in the hospital. I’m not a napper, but a two day migraine caught up with me.
Tate finished antibiotics for her GI infection yesterday and Friday she is off precautions and can finally leave her room and have dog visits again.
Keep Tom in your prayers. He had his infusion today for the new trial. The infusion went well, he worked through some icky side effects and is planning on being released on Friday. Now we’re praying the medication will squash that cancer. We love you Tom and Jen.
