Day 20

Almost 3 weeks….ugh. Today brought unwelcome news. We have a new pain plan, but it will take approximately 2 weeks to implement. Tate is on a really high level of narcotics. 600 morphine equivalents every 24 hours not including the constant morphine in her pain pump. A normal high dose is 80 morphine equivalents per day. As we open up her pain receptors again as we decrease the cheek med, she’s at high risk for respiratory depression in addition to withdrawals. The med we’re taking her off takes a long time to clear her system, we’ll then try weaning the dilaudid and adding a new medication that also can cause respiratory issues.

She’s on too high levels of narcotics to go home on and all of this isn’t safe to do at home. We’re disappointed, but grateful for a plan. Please pray this is smooth and successful. There has been so much disappointment and failure, it’s hard to remain positive. But we are always hopeful.

Tate experienced something new today…voting! We all voted for our sweet friend Lorna. We you Lorna!
