Day 23
Tate ended up having a longer night yesterday with Keira. They did some fun things, but Tate was really struggling with pain and Migraine, low blood pressure making pain meds be held and all the things while trying to get settled to sleep. Again, so grateful for both Keira and Taylor. I can’t say Tim or I ended up sleeping well, but the change of scenery was nice. And the funny thing about sleep is you get to try again every single night.
Tate actually had a pretty good day today. It was BUSY! She got off precautions She made a fun video with her palliative Dr, Ben. She worked with Art therapy and palliative on a legacy project. She had a couple surprise visits from hospital friends including one of our childlife faves, Sam, from Pre op and Adam from the family resource center. Childlife Claire came by too with a 3D printed present. It was nurse Annalise’s last day before she heads off on a life adventure. Tate was so happy to have her today.
Tate seemed to be in a better pain spot today. All her meds were moved back to IV. Today will be short lived as we continue to stir things up. There’s been a lot of back and forth as to if we continue to wean over the weekend or wait until Monday. We lose our teams that really know her so it’s a scarier prospect. We’d like to wait until Monday and give Tate’s body a break. But pushing is the norm, so we’re unlikely to get to pause. We are looking forward to a little more restful days over the weekend.
