Day 25
Weekends consist of a very small medical team…usually 2 on the primary team. No therapies or specialists. Limited tests and procedures. Clinics are closed and surgery/procedure center is limited to emergent cases, so the hospital is quiet too. It’s a nice break when you know you’re here for a bit but can be frustrating when you are in for something quick and it delays getting home. We appreciated the break from our super busy days.
We had a weekend that was quieter but still filled with pain that is difficult to control. Yesterday Tate left her room for the first time in 3 weeks. She didn’t last very long, but it was so nice to get out. Today, our home OT, Meg, came by and we went to the zone. It was nice to hear some laughter and Tate lasted a long time! Tate and Meg did all kinds of fun things and she was a great distraction for both of us today. Tate also had a dog visit from prescription pet, Michaela. Ruffles sadly retired so we’ve been missing the dog visits.
Sprinkled throughout the weekend were favorite nurses and new ones too. We didn’t decrease dilaudid today as Tate is needing too many rescue doses. I’m not sure what the plan will be tomorrow for pain. Tate is headed into anesthesia tomorrow morning at 8:30 to get the correct GJ tube. She’s pretty happy about that as the one she has now has not been very friendly.
