Day 30

We had some fun visitors in our room today. Pup Huckins and Shalise, Abe with Tate’s 3D print of her “Hope,” Tim with the most special gift and we put some tinsel in Dr. Lo’s hair.

The photo of Tim and Tate is with a print titled “Grit and Grace” by artist Karen Goetzinger. She painted this when Tate was in transplant and her own husband was going through chemo. The original is consigned in Ottawa. She had one print made and gifted it to Tate. Karen and Skip are special friends and this gift was highly emotional for all of us. Thank you Karen!

Medically, today was a little challenging for Tate. The ketamine was DC’d this evening. It was helpful when running and Tate was sad to think she may have to go back to uncontrolled pain. Tonight will likely be challenging, and we’re now into the weekend but we are still hopeful that going up more on the methadone will get Tate to a better place.

Tate has had some very low temperatures…upper 93 and lower 94’s along with a lower heart rate. There is disagreement whether ketamine could be the cause. She’s now teetering on a fever tonight and is a bit tachy, so she keeps everyone paying attention. Please pray for a restful night. We have a new to us (but kind) nurse tonight which is always hard when things don’t feel very stable. The hard stuff is always easier when you don’t have to start from the beginning.
