Day 54
Today was a tough day emotionally. There were tears shared with nurses and even Tate’s attending. Our nights have been short on sleep lately and days left with few answers. But…we had some of our very favorite faces sharing their hearts with us today that made the day so much better. I got hugs from favorite residents that have switched to other hospitalist teams and our family of nurses always meet us exactly where we are and figure out how to make the day better.
Nurse Rachel always brings the love and the laughter and Nurse Taylor always comes in with a smile and caught the tail end of our change of shift tea party with Mothers Day strawberries. And then she joined in with night shift nurse Molly for a sour candy Tate’s Treats episode. My heart continues to be grateful for the people who just keep showing up for us here day after day. We you so much!!!
Tate finally met the newest therapy dog, Wiley. He’s a sweetheart and goes by Smiley Wiley for obvious reasons.
Care conference slated for today was bumped until tomorrow. We are trying so hard to get home this week. We are 5 days out from another room switch. Hospital Prom is this Friday. We need a day to find a dress and get Tate rallied to go. Prom is filled with medical staff and childlife friends. The next most supported medical environment next to the hospital!
