Day 3

After the rough evening yesterday, bacteria specificity came back and infectious disease changed Tates antibiotics around midnight. She didn’t sleep much last night.

This morning Tate went into another what we now think is an inflammatory crisis. Med rescues got her out of it more quickly and it wasn’t as bad. We are hoping that it’s because the antibiotics are correct and are starting to reduce the bacterial load.

Tates potassium and phosphorus continue to be low so she’s getting another 6 hour infusion tonight. Antibiotics run 4 hours on , 4 hours off and she’s back on constant fluids after a really rough GI day. Endocrinology moved her steroids to IV as we’re wondering if she’s not absorbing well, pushing her body to struggle adrenally.

Blood cultures will be drawn again tonight. We’re a ways from any home discussion. It’s been a stressful admission, but again today we had another loved primary, Alyssa, who was on it and such a great advocate.

Tim and I were scheduled for a 36 hour Birthday getaway leaving tonight. You start to not trust that a planned event will happen which takes some of the sting out of another cancellation/missed event. We actually cancelled even before Tate was admitted as she’d been doing so poorly. We will reschedule and I’m grateful to be here for our Tate.
